We lost a box of ornaments. It got swallowed by the vortex in our attic. What to do??!!! Well, I came across some super fun, really easy crafts. Once I got started, it was pretty simple.
The first, I found on this site: Soda Can Reindeer

I did things a little different. Here is what I did:
First, I stole some soda cans from our neighbors, since we were short on some :) – actually, I sent Tom over to ask for some from them and they were stocked up since they were busy enjoying the Raven’s game. Instead of painting on eyes, I used hot glue and plastic eyes. I made my Santa hat using folded red felt, batting and hot glue to hold it together. Then I just hot glued all my pieces on. I did not use a sealer.
The next one I did was a soda can snow man. This was insanely easy. First I filled my soda can with sand we had purchased last year during one of our snow storms. Next, I used a hot glue and a paper towel to cover the can – I did not have any white paper (oops) Then I hot glued batting all over the can and used aluminum foil and batting to make the head. I then glued the head to can and glued on the eyes. I folded orange felt into the shape of a carrot and added that to the face and used teeny-tiny little black pompoms to create eyebrows. I used some old ribbon to fashion a scarf and vola, I had a snowman…wondering why I filled him with sand? Well, I wanted something sweet to sit on my front porch. The sand will keep him from blowing away.
Project # 3
Clothes Pin Reindeer:
We used to make these when we were kids and I LOVED them. I purchased some non-clipping clothes pins, little red pompoms, small eyes, small white pompoms, brown flower stem binding wire and a bag of brown pompoms.
Using hot glue, place the eyes and nose on the face. Then cut and bend the brown flower wire, squeeze a dab of hot glue on the top of the head and press the wire into it. Place one of the brown pompoms on top of the wire to create “hat”. Glue the white pompom on the back of the deer to create a tail. Next, cut a 2-3in long piece of ribbon and fix it around the neck to make the scarf. Last, dip the feet of the deer into black paint and allow to dry overnight. Originally I just made Mr and Mrs Rudolph. But my husband pointed out that I really should have all 12 reindeer. So, here they are. The whole gang!
These are super fun to make with your kids. I’d love to see pics of how yours turned out!
